BIO

Cy Manorhaven was raised in a sweet, small, suburban American town at the dawn of the 21st century to immigrant parents: having a mother from Italy and a father from Egypt. His house was a hodgepodge of culture, cuisines, accents, faiths and worldviews, but he found himself like any other kid in middle-America playing sports, calling friends’ houses for play-dates, playing video games, watching kid shows and “Let’s Play” YouTube videos after school.

Not much changed upon entering Junior High, but Cy became an introvert as he noticed his differences noticeable and realized his likes were less revered by the local populous. Though he excelled in his local U-Swimming team, he’d drop it and stay out of competitive settings. He instead gained online friends, pen-pals, and joined various online communities.

Cy grew more resentful upon entering Senior High, influenced by social media as he desired having more friends in real-life. His attempts to create a friend-circle proved difficult, as did the following conversations with his parents. He couldn’t accept the challenges his background and skin color presented in his small town, along with the prejudice placed on himself and his family.

His dream of an escape finally came when he found an all-knowing, time-traveling watch buried away in his basement — later discovering it was actually the watch who found him.

With its powers, the pair traveled across the 20th century, meeting various characters (Jeneffer Rio, Ramone Wilde, Ceci Cee-Catheryn, Mr. Roxy and Mr. Rio) while discovering family secrets, understanding what to make of his background, and learning how to use his biracial identity “like a superpower.”

As a key founder and leader of the League of Time-Travelers, Cy believes he is fully equipped to “redefine what it means to be a time-traveler” for the generations to come.

MESSAGE BOARD

Q1) When you were younger, did you ever feel destined for something greater?

A1) That’s a good question. I really don’t know. Maybe I did, but it was probably over something like videogames and becoming some sort of E-Sport legend. That’s all I got.

Q2) Did you ever think about playing another sport besides swimming?

A2) Not in school or anything. But after my recent trip to Europe I’d love to take up fencing.
